Life Lesson #1: Respond to Demand

When you’re setting up your stuff to study, don’t spend ten minutes taking all your stuff out and setting everything up just how you want it before studying.  If something comes up and you have to move, you’ve just wasted those ten minutes and the five minutes it will take you to pack up again.  Instead, take out your book and start reading.  When you need your computer take it out.  When you see your battery is running low, take out your charger.  When you get thirsty, take out your drink, etc…  In addition to being able to pack up and move quickly if something comes up, you’re also likely to do each of these subtasks more efficiently when you actually need them than when you’re just sort of doing it in the abstract for some future benefit.  We must be flexible to deal with the changes that life throws us.  I still have a foldable, suitcase desk in my apartment.
