The Legacy of Barack Obama

Many credit Obama’s success with his ability to allay the irrational fears of others without being defensive and/or dismissive.  Hearing the media guys talk about the Bradley affect, it occurred to me that maybe people are okay with being bigots so long as they think other people are too, but when they start to think they’re in the minority with their bigotry, that’s when they change.  I remember watching The Daily Show and Jon Stewart made it seem like the notion of a white person changing his mind last minute in the booth because of race was the most ridiculous thing he’d ever heard.  I imagine that type of thing helped way more than we think it did.  Jon Stewart, of course, voted for McCain.
